Moving house.

November 4, 2009 Rachel Leave a comment

I’m very excited to be able to tell everyone why I’ve been so quiet and haven’t gotten to do as much in the way of writing as I’d like. We’re moving back to Sydney! The biggest bonus, other than being close to family and moving back into our house, is that I’m finally going to be closer to other authors!!! Yay! I’m planning lots of things for the new year. I know I shouldn’t be planning that quite yet but I can’t help it. I’ve been isolated so long with the lack of author connection here in Singapore that I’m beside myself with excitement about all that I’ll be able to take part in. I’m also thrilled to not have to go back to work outside the home so I’ll be able to continue to concentrate on writing. Squeeeeee……..

Edited to add we leave Singapore on the 17th of December.

Haven’t been around much but…

November 2, 2009 Rachel Leave a comment

I’ve been busy. There’s heaps going on in my life at the moment and I’m finding it hard to catch my breath but things are starting to settle and fingers crossed all will fall into place and get back to normal. Well as normal as we get around here anyway. LOL

My alter ego Rhian Cahill has been busy writing and has quiet a few things going on right now. Plus in the last week some great reviews have come in for Singapore Fling and One Night In Bangkok. The links to all the reviews are HERE! Plus Rhian has done a couple of interview, the links to those can be found HERE!

I’m taking part in Nano again. The first day sucked on the word count but I’ve got my mother visiting so time is limited. Hopefully I’ll catch up and leap ahead at some point.

Thought I’d share a pic with you of a nasty storm that blew in over the ocean the other day. I have to say I really love the tropical storms we get up here in Singapore. They’re always so dramatic.

Life kicks my butt!

September 22, 2009 Rachel Leave a comment

Honestly I’m totally over having so much to do. I cannot catch my breath. It’s all good stuff but man I gotta say I need a break! Just a little time to get more than half a job done before I need to more onto the next one. The writing is going well. Managed to finish the first draft of bk1 in the shifter series that will be pub’d under Rhian Cahill and so far the CP’s have liked it without pointing out any major holes that need filling. Should have that off to an editor by the end of the week. I started a new short that is already a third done, go me!, and I’m hoping to sub that by the end of next month. Should be starting back on the romantic suspense series in the next month or so too. I’m putting together a schedule and locking the door to my office so I stick to it. (the locked door will keep the Tribe out. *grin*)

Other than that, the Tribe is taking up lots of time with the start of the new school year for the Princesses, The Kid entering wake boarding contests and Son#1 and Lady-in-waiting studying hard for their university degrees. Hubby has managed to travel less in the last month as his parents have been here visiting, they leave tonight. We’re doing the normal round up of things getting ready for Christmas and all that involves. So you see, busy, busy, busy.

Things are changing.

June 20, 2009 RC Leave a comment

You’ll notice a few changes over the next few weeks. I’ll be blogging more often and running a new Spotlight Sunday post every week. There’s things in my writing life that will be changing too but more on that later. For now let’s just say I’m rearranging some things to give me more time to write under both my names. LOL That always makes me laugh. Anyway, pop back on Sunday to see who my first spotlight is on. I will say this person writes smokin’ hot romance that will singe your eyeballs.

The end is near.

June 9, 2009 RC Leave a comment

I’m leaving for the airport soon. The trip back to Singapore will take about two days so I’ll be unreachable but don’t worry, the first thing I’ll be dong is checking in with ALL my online buddies! I’ve had a wonderful time, met some great people (old friends and new), discovered that the writing community is a marvelous place to be and learned so much that I’m going to able to apply to my writing process and goals. Can’t wait to get home and get started. Of course there’s all the Tribe who I’ve missed far more than I should. I plan on giving them all a big squeeze when I see them in TWO DAYS.

Yep, I’m outta here. In six hours I’ll get a cab to the airport and I won’t be around for couple of days of traveling. But I’ll be popping in and out when I can and be sure to check Rhian’s blog for updates as well.

See ya!

Lazy afternoon

April 10, 2009 Rachel Leave a comment

Okay so it’s still morning and my life is anything but lazy at the moment but I’m sitting by the pool with my netbook (here after known as Mini-stud) writing and watching the Tribe swim and soak up the sun. Hubby’s across the table working (when isn’t he?) and Son#1 and Lady-in-waiting are upstairs studying. It’s a glorious sunny and hot day and I’ve go heaps to do before I go to the US in ten days time but I’ve decided I’m in need of some TLC so I’m ‘relaxing’ by the pool.

One Night In Bangkok releases on the 11th of April and for more details go here. I’m excited about my first release and totally love the cover the artist came up with.

Well back to writing my next hot tale for the Passport To Passion Collection.

What a birthday present!

February 3, 2009 Rachel 3 comments
Happy birthday to me!

Happy birthday to me!

In case you hadn’t guessed, IT’S MY BIRTHDAY!!!  I’m 40! What I want to know is who stole those missing years when I wasn’t looking? I swear I don’t feel anywhere near 40! But then I look at Son#1 as he leaves for work and think, shite! I’m 40!  LOL  I still want to know when it happened.

Anyway to my pressies. I’ve probably mentioned my trip to US to go to RT and the Lori Foster weekend before but as it’s my 40th birthday gift from the Tribe I’ll mention it again. I’M GOING!!! Yep, we’ve book hotels and airplane tickets and train tickets and told people when we’ll be plonking on their doorstep. It’s gonna be a blast. I also got, from my mum and brother, a pair of diamond and gold earrings. I love them! If you want to see them go here!

The other present I got was the results of last weeks Karin Tabke First Line comp. I made it! Again! It’s down to 35 this week, fingers crossed for next week. You can check out her blog here!  But I thought I’d post my entry so far here for you to enjoy.

Cold trembling finger reached out to trace the letters engraved on the headstone, the chilly marble slab the only tangible link to the family Jolene still missed. Ten years hadn’t even begun to numb the pain or take away the gaping hole in her heart. The years hadn’t answered the questions that screamed to be answered.

Set back from the rest of the graves, the stone sat under a shady tree. She’d picked the spot for the lack of light, her babies would never again enjoy the sunshine and neither would their final resting place. She knew it wasn’t a rational thing to want for them but at the time, and even now, it seemed fitting.

The icy pre-dawn wind blew across the ground and whistled between the marble, slate and sandstone that marked the lives of so many. In this place, surrounded by death, Jolene breathed the breath of the living-dead.

So what ya think? Will that last line get me through to the next round?

‘See’ ya soon!
